"A Course in Miracles" is against "Bible"

1) Introduction on " A Course in Miracles" { Two sections }

Helen Schucman scribed A Course in Miracles with the help of Bill Thedford. Both of these people were psychologists, professors and co-workers at Columbia University in New York City. This was done through the process called automatic handwriting, (in which a spirit entity guides the hand )and clairaudience, (hearing from a disembodied spirit) Schucman wrote this hefty volume, and she claims the source of the words was Jesus Himself !

Please Keep in mind this sentence " she claims the source of the words was Jesus Himself ! "as it's very important sentence as we will see later !!

We willnot go further talking about who scribed it nor their own lives as our study here is mainly focused on the content of the Book .

First section we would like to introduce Someone talking about the Book and how it changed his life

The Course came into my life at a crucial time, a time when my life was all mixed up and I was totally lost and confused. With the Course, and a lot of help from friends and teachers, I began to change my mind about the world, love, relationships, God, and finally, myself.

since I was a child, the thought that Jesus died for my sins made no sense to me. How could a man, 2,000 years ago somehow pay for my sins today? How could God be so cruel as to sacrifice one of His children to die for others? Why did He have to die for my sins, anyway? Nobody could ever answer these questions to my satisfaction. If you are interested in the answer to these questions, or maybe an answer to your own, read Chapter Six – The Lessons in Love.

I also feel that it is an opportunity for Jesus to correct some of the misrepresentations of what He originally was trying to say. In the Course He actually corrects some of the statements attributed to Him and reaffirms that His message was always about love and nothing else. He also exposes the reader to a loving God and not the God so many of us have learned to be afraid of. When we choose fear, we contract, we get small (after all, a smaller target is harder to hit). We look at everything we ever did wrong and expect to be punished. We look at the world with guilty, fearful eyes and perceive only fearful images. And since our egos don’t want to take responsibility for our own fears, judgments and guilt, we then project our internal insanity out onto the world that we see. We begin to blame others for all of our problems. We judge others for the same things that we judge ourselves. And in doing this, we create our reality – a reality based on fear, lack, guilt and judgment. A real hell!

Where the world would tell us that you can only attain God through a certain religion or ritual, the Course emphasizes that it is everyone’s right to experience God no matter how they get there. And once one experiences God, the method of getting there no longer matters. A Hindu’s experience of God is no different than a Christian’s. They may have gotten to that experience through different methods, but they can definitely appreciate, honor and accept the depth of each other’s experience, and honor each other’s essence.

Second section Commenting on the First section

:

1) It seems that many people don't understand the concept of word "Sin" in Christianity as That indicates to me that the person who was talking about the book in first section doesn't have much experience of what is written in the bible when he mentioned " How could God be so cruel as to sacrifice one of His children to die for others? Why did He have to die for my sins, anyway?"…I posted an individual Topic about "Sin ".


2) Does Jesus need an opportunity to correct some of the misrepresentations of what He originally said ??!. Did what he say in Bible was wrong ?.why now he starts to correct them ?.If there were any misrepresentations then they are not from Jesus nor the Bible but may be misinterpretations from some preachers explaining the Bible!. There is a BIG difference between the Two cases !

3) Many people look at the bible as a book full of pain ,Condemning ,Fear, Hate, Sufferings and Commandments with no Hope or Joy or Happiness….creating a gap between God and His people…..The Fact is that They couldn't realize the hidden things behind all these…..and the Truth is that They didn't read the bible the way it should be read !

4) Is A Hindu’s experience of God no different than a Christian’s ??..Does any Spiritual Book lead to the true God ?...Are all Ways leading to God ?? The wide road like the narrow one ??... Do all religions end up to the Real God ??.. Jesus did not hesitate to claim that He was the only way to God:
JOHN 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; No one comes to the Father, but through Me."

2) Contradictions between "A Course in Miracles "and "The Bible:

Though the Course explains Man's ego created the world, the Bible disagrees: Genesis 1:1, John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16.

Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

John 1:1-3: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Colossians 1:16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him

Though the Course teaches Man is still in heaven with God, Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for Man. Hence man is obviously not already in heaven: John 14:1-3.

John 1:1-3: 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

The Course claims Jesus' body was an illusion. The Bible, however, stresses the physical reality of Jesus' human body: John 1:14

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Sin is an illusion according to the Course, but the Bible warns of sin's reality and consequences: Romans 3:23, John 1:7-10.

Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
John 1:7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

According to the Course, Jesus is not the only Savior. The Bible presents
Jesus as the unique and only Savior of the world: John 14:6, Acts 4:10-12, Acts 16:29-31.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

Acts 4:10-12: 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

3) Analytical View on ACIM:

Many who become involved in studying The Course are active in self-help groups such as Twelve Step programs. They are seeking to make connections in their lives and discover who they truly are. They are willing participants in this transformation.Many are desiring some form of "spirituality" and for those who see the Bible as being too harsh, The Course offers what they believe to be God's correction of our misinterpretation of the original message of Jesus.

The Course becomes the "thirteenth step" in recovery for those who are attempting to escape the rigid fundamentalism that has smothered them in the past. For them, the recovery process becomes a spiritual transformation.

The integration of psychology and spirituality becomes a lure that pulls them deeper into the web of deception and ultimately suffocates them. The biblical teaching of original sin is dismissed for the more palatable "original goodness."


4) Conclusion:

1) The ACIM Book has wise words to lead us to think positively leading to a peaceful state of mind and soul but the bad news is that it's a Temporary state as there is no roots or source for this peace except from the Man Himself . ACIM Target is to make You feel like You’re winning, encouraged, and that You just become a self-righteous person unaware of how messed up your life really is. There is a difference between reading a spiritual book to help you think positively and reading it to believe in !! ..

2) The stated goal of The Course is to change how one thinks, to change one's belief system . The individual is for the most part unaware of the transformation he or she is undergoing because The Course utilizes Christian terminology.

3) ACIM is a Philosophy for a Pollyanna, Not Real People in Real Situations. [The Pollyanna principle or Pollyannaism describes the tendency for people to agree with positive statements describing them. It is sometimes called Positivity Bias] (wikipedia).

4) There is nothing Christian about A Course In Miracles! , However We mentioned at the Beginning of Topic that " Helen Schucman claims the source of the words was Jesus Himself ! "So The Question now Has Jesus a Dual Personality as his original message in Bible opposes what is teached by the ACIM ??! ( as We mentioned in the contradictions between them )
